Chocolate and more Chocolate!

After the Cathedral we walked to the Chocolate museum. I'd already been there, but it was interesting to find out about some of the stuff I hadn't been bothered to read about.

While everyone was busy looking down, I was looking up! This machine is the one they use to mix the chocolate.
Handing out waffles dipped in a chocolate founain
The Lindt Chocolate Museum is on an island (in a river) connected to the mainland by a bridge.

Koln Cathedral

After the zoo we went to the Cathedral of Koln. It was pretty big! There were lovely mosaics on the floor and Adelina was thrilled to get to walk around the beautiful church.

Jumping Jellybeans ride a train.....!?

Tuesday was the big day. The only day where we would have to pay REALLY close attention to anything. First we caught a train from the train station (about a 15 minute walk away from the hostel).

JJ's on the public train!

The train from the zoo to the cathedral. More than half the group was squashed in there. It got pretty hot!!!!

Football Fun

After the Villa we went back into Arwheile and had the choice of going to watch the first half of the Holland vs Slovakia or staying in town and doing a fun activity. We decided to stay and do the activity.
Our group leader gave us 5 Euros and we had to buy...
- A German newspaper
- A postcard
- A stamp
- Some candy

Here's me looking very random in a little store.

P.S. Holland won against Slovakia 2 - 1!!

Roma Villa

After lunch we walked to the Roma Villa. We walked around on raised platforms and got to see the different rooms. It took the archeologists years to dig it all up. The building is in the middle of a round about. Can you guess why?

The answer is that while a road was being built they found the stones and called in the archeologists. I hope that maybe one day I'll get that call!

 P.S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

LUNCH TIME!

At lunch we went to a nice playground. There were swings, climbing structures and a water pump to get ourselves soaked. The girls from my form had fun chasing some of the boys from our form.
The lunches were horrible. We got 1 bun and got to put on what ever we wanted from the buffet at breakfast. Then we got a nasty tasting orange juice and an apple that wasn't fresh. Ew! I had put cheese on my bun, but by the time we ate it, it had melted. Yuck!

More photos of Arhweiler

We were given a task to do around the town; like a treasure hunt. We had to use a map and some clues to answer some questions. That's when I took these photos.

The walled town of Arhweiler

On the Monday we walked into the walled city of Arhweile. It wasn't a far walk, but the heat was - let's just say,  Really HOT! The teachers were really mean, making us walk next to the river, where there were people wading. I kept telling my friends that I would soooooo do that!

Photos of the walled city of Arhweiler

Oh, just to tell you....my work group was different to my dorm group - my work group was Wendy, Adelina, Saskia and I. We had a teacher called Mrs. Bourne, who was really nice. We were called the Jumping Jellybeans!

My crazy dorm

While in Arhweiler I shared dorm number 110 with 3 other girls. Wendy was from my class, but Laurna and Lauren were in a different class.

Loungin' at the hostel

We arrived at the hostel after a 4 hour bus ride - with a half an hour stop in the middle. Unlucky for us the boy's got to go to their rooms first so us girls were stuck outside. The sun was blazing down on us - burning us, so we sat in the shade, trying to keep out of the sun.

Wow, this bench is comfy - maybe I could sleep out here!

Here we are, in the front garden of the hostel.

Sunday Morning bus trip

On the Sunday the 27th of June I got a ride into school with one of my friends, Wendy. She lives nearby so she picked up Mommy, my suitcase and me.
I was going to Ahrweiler, in Germany for a one week school trip with half of my grade/year. We met in the school atrium and left on the bus at around 11.
Kelly, the smaller girl in the pink hat, forgot her passport and Dutch ID. We had to wait for her.

Oranje Oranje Everywhere!

After the triathlon Terri organized a dinner at a Italian Restaurant in the nearby town of Voorschoten. On the way with our bikes there we passed a street covered in orange flags. Getting ready for the world cup. Here in Holland nearly everyone finds a way to celebrate. HUP HOLLAND HUP!

The Best Team!

BSN are The BEST!!!
Guess who were the best team?
BSN!
In total there were 4 people on the podium from our school.
In my category - girls under 14 - I came 5th with a time of 58minutes and 31 seconds.
David had a time of 45 minutes and 50 seconds.
What's really annoying is that if I had been participating in the above 14 I would have come 3rd.
Oh well, next time!
