Brazil vs. Honduras

The next day we met up with David and Andrew's family in Newcastle at their home football stadium. We were really excited to get to see the semi-finals for the men's Olympic football, which in our case was Brazil vs. Honduras. We went into the game supporting Brazil, but by the time the game was over, we all would have preferred Honduras.

Before the game

The game was pretty intense. Honduras scored first, which was surprising as Brazil was meant to be the best team. Brazil were quick to get back in the game, however and by half time, the score was 1-1. After some bad calls by the referee, the game ended with Brazil winning, 3-2.
Huge crowds leaving the stadium

Ashlynn and I bought t-shirts so we could match David and Andrew.

The CPC

Once again it was time for the CPC, the City Pier City Race through the center of Den Haag. Daddy and I decided that we were going to run the 5K while juggling and Ashlynn did the 2.5K for the last time (next year she'll be too old). Ashlynn and I ran the CPC for the WWF. We got sponsors and together raised 300 euros. (Ashlynn raised 2/3 of that and I raised the other part..)
Ashlynn did very well in her race, coming first of the girls and winning a trophy. Daddy and I weren't running for time, but I was still pretty impressed that we managed to cross the finish line at about 30 minutes while juggling. (Yes, I did drop the balls occasionally, but no, I didn't kill anyone because they tripped over one....)
Dressed silly for juggling while running!

Leiden Race

Ashlynn is participating in a "circuit" race, which means that she does multiple races and then at the end, she could win in her age category. It was pretty cold as we left for the race in Leiden on our bikes. That cold weather took an impact on our runners. Ashlynn claimed that there was "no oxygen in the air" and that David had "stolen it all when he ran past."

5th Place!

After a full day of playing hard, we played our final game for fifth place. And we won! Which I think is pretty impressive, because we were an all girls team. Ashlynn's team came second in the under 12's and they won the spirt of the game award.
Here are a few more pictures from the games....

I love this photo. It's just so amazing, with the rain.....big hug :)

Throws.....

We were very lucky with the weather, rain was predicted, but it only started sprinkling in the last few games. And the wind wasn't too bad, but when it started picking up, the long throws to Amelia, began to not go to her, so we started doing some shorter throws.

Awesome Catches......

Here are some photos from the Outdoor Frisbee tournament. These are some epic catches:

Adelina catching in the end zone.

Amelia
One of our main strategies, if we were getting thrown the disc, was I pick it up and Amelia runs to the end zone, one long throw later and we have a point! We used this strategy multiple times.

The Lionesses!

Frisbee time again. 9.10.11. (For all you American's out there, that means the ninth of October, in the year 2011) This year, because David and Dominic were too old to compete in the under fifteens, Mr. Lowe put in two teams, the BSN Lions (with Andrew, Joel, Brennan, Patrick and Luke) and the Lionesses, the BSN's first ever all girl's Frisbee team! And, to make it even better, they were all my friends! Ashlynn was competing as well in the under 12.

2nd place......again!?

2nd place for the 5th time running.....seems like we have a curse.......:)
Oh well. You know what? For the first time EVER - we were mentioned at school! Isn't that pretty awesome?
Well, next year David and Dominik and some of the other Y10's will be too old to be playing in the under 14's - wonder what we'll do now?
Well, let's think about that when we need to.

Finals - BSN Lions v.s Weird German people who look like they just broke out of jail because of their stripy shirts

Although we won every one of our previous games, we just couldn't beat those stripy shirt's german kids. They were faster at us and had very good strategy.
We played our very best, but I guess it wasn't good enough. Well, I guess it does help if you have at least a whole two teams on one team. (This means that they are always fresh when they sub).
Oh well, the day was fun and that's what it's all about.

Circle at the end of the game where we tried to speak german and they tried to speak english. It didn't work very well

The second BSN team was the BSN red's. Two of my friends from my class were in this class.
Overall they came 6th or 8, we can't remember.....:)

Nice catch!

Frisbee tournament 2010 - BSN Blue

10th of the 10th of the 10th.
We set off to Utrecht for the 3rd time to compete in the Under 15 Ultimate Frisbee Nationals. This year schools from Germany and Belgium also competed.
Here's Ashlynn's team....
The BSN Blues!

BSN Blue's were the youngest team playing, they had the least amount of players and they played more games than the rest of the BSN teams!

Finals

On the finals we invited over lots of people to watch the finals in our outdoor theater. Daddy, Ashlynn and Mr. Lowe sat in the swimming pool while watching. I started off in the pool, but got a bit cold. The screen started off small, but as the night when on, it got bigger. Luckily it didn't start raining like it did the night before (during the game deciding who would be third and fourth), but unluckily.....
Holland lost.

Final Friday

Before Holland even got past the first round I told my friends that if the Dutch team got into the finals I would come to school with orange hair - and if they won, I would come again with orange hair.
When Holland really DID get into the finals, I kept to my promise and came to school on Friday with orange hair spray in my hair. Three of my friends came in with orange hair too. We put flags on people's faces - even if they were supporting Spain.

HUP HOLLAND HUP

Us watching one of the games. When ever Holland scored we'd go outside and scream and blow horns.

Flying Flags! (Not in our garden)

Hats and game - both representing Holland!! Mommy bought Heineken just to get the hats.

Even though we're from America - we cheered for Holland the whole time. We put up flags in our front garden and made posters in our house. We made sure that we watched every one of their games!

The Best Team!

BSN are The BEST!!!
Guess who were the best team?
BSN!
In total there were 4 people on the podium from our school.
In my category - girls under 14 - I came 5th with a time of 58minutes and 31 seconds.
David had a time of 45 minutes and 50 seconds.
What's really annoying is that if I had been participating in the above 14 I would have come 3rd.
Oh well, next time!
