Fancy Dancy Cars

After the Bunker we took a bus to a car race track called Nurburgring. We waited in a big atrium kind of building (The Ring Arena) with car stores lining the sides. It was a shame the Ferrari Store was closed. Even though we were right next to the race track, we never got to actually see it.Strange.

Inside the Bunker

Here are some photos of the inside of the bunker. There was only enough supplies to let them live there for 30 nights. After that - it was back out into the world - contaminated or not.

Each bedroom had 4 beds.
Miles of endless tunnels.  During the war these would have been like the ones that we walked through.
All Bunkers need dentists! Ouch!

And a doctors room. There was even a box for amputation on one of the cupboards.... :-(

Bunker for the Best

On Thursday we took a bus to the bottom of a big hill and walked up it.

View of Arhweile

We walked to a Bunker where the chosen people (important in the government) would have gone if there had been a nuclear bomb. They would have had minutes to get away from the deadly gases. It was pretty cold inside. Miles and miles of tunnels built under ground to keep the people safe for 31 days. After that - it was time to go back out.

A whale of a boat

On Wednesday we caught a train to catch a boat. It was shaped like a whale and called Moby Dick. Kelly, Lili and I got great seats near the mouth. It was too hot to go on the top of the boat, so we stayed inside most of the time. We got off the boat at Bonn.

Chocolate and more Chocolate!

After the Cathedral we walked to the Chocolate museum. I'd already been there, but it was interesting to find out about some of the stuff I hadn't been bothered to read about.

While everyone was busy looking down, I was looking up! This machine is the one they use to mix the chocolate.

The Lindt Chocolate Museum is on an island (in a river) connected to the mainland by a bridge.
