Whale Watching

As a surprise to Ashlynn and I we went whale watching with Auntie Leigh Leigh and Uncle Mike and Mommy and Daddy. The weather wasn't that great, and there weren't that many whales, but we did see a humpback whale, and it did get pretty close to the boat! I ended up falling asleep on the side of the boat and getting sunburnt, and Ashlynn got to drive the boat!

At the end, we saw loads of seal lions hanging out on a pier! So cute!

Flight Simulator!

We also got a tour of the flight simulator. Every pilot of the space shuttle, has been in one of these very same simulators.

This is the room that the vertical motion simulator was in. It could move 60 feet vertically and 40 feet horizontally.

The Biggest Wind Tunnel in the WORLD!!

One of our first stops was the wind tunnel. The Ames Research Center has the world's largest wind tunnel, which is somewhere were they test planes to make sure that they are designed to survive heavy winds. It was pretty massive!

Ames Research Center

Mommy and Daddy went to Mommy's high school reunion and while she was there she met up with her friend, who has a job at NASA. So, guess where we went one afternoon? To the Ames Research Center to have a private tour!
You know, it's really great to have friends in high places! :)

Fun in California

We had a nice big dinner one night with Auntie Leigh Leigh and Uncle Mike and Lenny. Very yummy salmon!

Funny bandages that look like BACON! In the right corner you can see - BACON SOAP!
My friends think that it's hilarious, but I think it's kind of disgusting! Can you imagine washing your hands with pig fat? EEW!

Rescue Breathing

So you thought those other dolls were kind of scary, well take a look at these ones! These are the ones we did rescue breathing on. To pass we had to do 2 minutes of rescue breathing. I have to say, that by the end I was feeling kind of dizzy.
But Ashlynn and I both passed. So now we are certified babysitters!

Babysitting Class at the Red Cross

Off to AMERICA!!!
First stop: California to stay with Grandpa and Grandma.
Because the school doesn't offer a babysitting course, and I wanted to babysit some fun Dutch kids, I decided I wanted to do a Red Cross Baby sitting Course in California. Ashlynn wanted to do it too, even though she's a bit young to be babysitting. We got to the Red Cross Center and had our class which included stuff like:
How to hold a baby/toddler
How to feed a baby/toddler
How to change a diaper
How to do rescue breathing
How to check for injury
ect
ect.... :)

Each student got a Babysitter's Pack which included 2 books and a first aid kit

Really creepy baby dolls!
